As we age, the Hyaluronic Acid (HA) content of our skin decreases. The skin loses its natural hydration and becomes drier as sebaceous glands are less active. The fat pods in the face can drop or separate over time, making the skin less tort. The blood vessels in the skin decrease, resulting in reduced glow and colour. And, of course, we all fight a losing battle against the pull of gravity.
How Does Dermal Filler Treatment Work?
Dermal fillers help to diminish the signs of ageing and re-hydrate the skin through a simple injection; replacing volume where it has been lost, due to a lack of collagen production and lower production of (HA). HA is naturally occurring in the body, attracts moisture and keeps the skin plump. This means that results can easily be reversed and also mo means no allergy testing is needed as we already have this in our bodies.
Dermal filler injections are smooth consistency gels which are injected to restore volume, soften deep and fine lines and redefine facial shape to help your skin get back its natural shape and appearance. All ingredients in Juvederm fillers are cross-linked making a very mould-able product, so they are much smoother than competitors – no lumps and bumps, everything sticks and stays together. Tissue integration means that fillers become part of the area.
Facial fillers are quick and easy. During the treatment, Lidocaine, a local anaesthetic within the dermal filler gel, helps make the treatment comfortable and reduce any discomfort. After treatment, an immediate improvement in skin texture, colour and volume can be seen straight away.
What Areas Can Be Treated with Dermal Filler?
Fillers are usually used for lines that appear when the face is at rest, and generally used at eye level and below. Common areas treated and common problems treated are:
- Deep Lines
- Nasal labial Folds (Creasing around the mouth).
- Nose Reshaping
- Lips (restoring shape and fullness)
How Long Does Dermal Filler Treatments Last?
Purity Clinic insists on only using the highest quality FDA approved products such as Juvederm, that can last up to 2 years, depending on the filler.
Though Juvederm fillers are non-permanent and reversible, with continued use the time interval between treatments will be longer as the skin repairs itself beneath the folds and creases.
Patients should Know
Swelling, bruising and stiffness are all normal. Fillers take around 2 weeks to fully soften and will start to feel more normal after around 5 days. The process may be slightly uncomfortable, not painful – the Lidocaine helps with this.
